A sudden appearance of an error message in Microsoft Outlook can be source of annoyance, specially when Outlook is being used for business purposes. Most of these problems arise because its data file and/or installation is damaged. Specifically in Microsoft Outlook 2007, when you disable the automatic feature of emptying the deleted items folder on exiting, the above problem goes away. To do so, click Tools > Options, clear the associated option, click ‘Apply’, and then ‘OK’.

If performing the above step doesn’t help, most likely the Outlook installation or your PST is damaged. Thus you should first reinstall the application and see if this can bring difference in the given behavior. If not, you should locate the Scanpst.exe file and run Inbox Repair Tool to repair the corrupted PST.
